FREE Tool to Help Plan Your Wellness Communications

What Will You be Talking About in February?
FREE Planning Guide Can Help

Your business card might say “Human Resources Manager.” Co-workers may know you as the leader of your company’s wellness committee. What you really are (among other things) is a publisher.

The best health, wellness and benefits leaders think and act like a publisher year-round. They deliver communication that’s specified in a plan. Instead of being “stuck” for relevant copy and images, they arrange what to say — and through what media to say it — months in advance.

The best part: It’s easy and energizing to plot topics in advance and establish a forward-thinking approach to health and wellness communication.

A FREE Tool to Keep Your Messages in Motion

Thinking and acting like a publisher takes organization — that’s why we created the easy-to-use Hope Health Planning Guide to help you organize your messaging for the entire year, through the mediums you choose.

Inside the Planning Guide, you’ll find the most popular monthly observances noted, along with upcoming holidays and quick suggestions on what to focus on in your communications. Each monthly section features a chart you can use to organize assignments and deadlines.

What Will You Communicate in February?

Throughout February 2012, newspaper articles, TV news stories, community Websites, retail advertisements and other outlets will include content about the value of having a healthy heart.

It will be the American Heart Association’s “Heart Month.” People are more likely to listen and respond to repeated, positive messages, so it’s smart to leverage such observances to pump some energy and timeliness into your communication. Publishers at media giants have already pegged their editorial schedules and marketing messages to the heart-health cause.

You can do the same, planning multiple components of your February 2012 communication attack. Here are a few ideas:

  • A downloadable PDF about the importance of a healthy heart
  • An entertaining poster with the title “I Heart My Heart” (a double entendre for Valentine’s Day) that features quotes from employees who participate in your wellness program
  • A map pointing to all the places in your community where employees can improve their health (perhaps using a heart symbol to mark those locations)
  • A series of text messages, social media updates, or emails with quick exercise tips (perhaps contributed by a local fitness instructor)
